Anna Sandberg

Anna Linnea Sandberg (born 23 May 2003) is a Swedish football player who has played with BK Häcken since 2022 and made her debut for the Sweden national team in 2023.

Career

Clubs

Sandberg started playing football at Örebro SK Söder.[1] In 2019 she played four games for Örebro SK Söder in Division 1, the third highest league in Sweden. At the same time, she played for the U-19 team and the 1st team of KIF Örebro DFF, including in the cup competition.[1] From 2022 also played for KIF in the Damallsvenskan.[2] In August 2022 she joined BK Häcken.[2] She also played for Häcken in the group stage qualifiers of the 2022–23 Champions League, but fell out by two defeats at Paris Saint-Germain.[3][4]

National teams

Sandberg took part in the first qualifying round for the European Championship in October 2021 with the U19 team and was able to qualify with the team for the second round. They qualified for the finals at a tournament in Croatia in April 2022, where they lost 1–0 to Spain in the semifinals. From September 2022 she was used in the U23 team.

On 16 February 2023, she made her senior debut in the 4–1 win over China, starting and playing full time.[5] Also in her second appearance, the 0–1 defeat against Denmark on 7 April, she was in the starting XI, but was substituted after 85 minutes.[6] On 13 June, she was nominated for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.[7] She is the youngest player and the most capped outfield player in the squad.
