Biskupiec, Nowe Miasto County

Biskupiec [bisˈkupjɛt͡s] is a village in Nowe Miasto County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Biskupiec.[1]

Biskupiec lies approximately 19 kilometres (12 mi) north-west of Nowe Miasto Lubawskie and 80 km (50 mi) south-west of the provincial capital of Olsztyn and 100 km (62 mi) south-east of the regional metropole of Gdańsk.

Biskupiec was a town from 1331 to 1946, when it lost its town rights due to heavy devastation during World War II.[2] Preserved heritage sights include the Saint John of Nepomuk and Our Lady of the Rosary church and the Gmina Office.
