California Junior College Lacrosse Association

The California Junior College Lacrosse Association (CJCLA) was a community-college-level club lacrosse association from 2013 to 2017. Formed in 2013, the CJCLA was dedicated to expanding junior college lacrosse opportunities for the student-athletes of California, and was open to any California junior college lacrosse program that was officially recognized as a student club by their institution. The CJCLA went defunct in 2017, due to a lack of funds and interest.

Different from NCAA, MCLA, and other college lacrosse leagues, CJCLA played their season during the fall semester. Despite their desire to be, the CJCLA was never sanctioned by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and instead was governed by its own elected leadership.[1]

History

Throughout the CJCLA's existence, three championships were held, all of which were won by the Diablo Valley College Vikings. The winner of the championships were awarded the "Little Oak Barrel" trophy.

The 2013 season awarded the championship based on team's record, which Diablo Valley College earned after a perfect 5-0 season.[2]

The 2014 season saw the introduction of a tournament style championship, which saw Diablo Valley College defeating Santa Barbara City College 15-9 on December 6th, 2014.

The 2015 championship match saw a repeat of the year prior, with Diablo Valley College defeating Santa Barbara City College 20-10 on December 5th, 2015.

No 2016 season was played, the league then folded prior to the 2017 season.
