Centerville, Kansas

Centerville is an unincorporated community in Linn County, Kansas, United States.[1] As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 78.[2] It is located 8.5 miles (13.7 km) north of the city of Blue Mound.

History

The first post office in Centerville was established in March 1855.[3] Currently, Centerville has a post office with ZIP code 66014.[4] The Kansas City branch of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad runs through Centerville. The railroad supported local industries, a grain elevator and a passenger depot. The old Amoco Pumphouse building was converted to an event venue in 2007.

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Centerville has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[5]
