In February 2015, Demiurge was acquired by Japanese-based company Sega and became part of their mobile gaming subsidiary, Sega Networks.[2] Five years later on April 2, 2020, Sega sold Demiurge Studios back to its co-founder and chairman Albert Reed along with Geoffrey Hyatt with the company becoming an independent studio once again although the company said that they would continue to support the games that they developed under them.[3] A year later on August 18, 2021, the company was acquired again this time by Swedish-based Embracer Group and became a subsidiary of Saber Interactive.[4]
