En Uyir Thozhan (pronounced [en ujiɾ toːɻan] transl. My dear friend) is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language political drama film directed by Bharathiraja. The film was released on 16 February 1990,[1] and failed at the box-office; however it garnered a cult following.[2]

Plot
The film revolves around an activist of a political party and his demise.

Production
The film marked the acting debuts of newcomers Rama, Thennavan and Babu.[3][4] It was co-produced by Bharathiraja's brother Jayaraj.[5]
Soundtrack
The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with lyrics by Gangai Amaran.[6] The song "Machi Mannaru" is set in Mayamalavagowla raga.[7]

Reception
P. S. S. of Kalki praised the performances of debutants and Vadivukkarasi, cinematography and concluded the film is hard-hitting.[8]
