History and geography

Fannettsburg was platted in 1790, and named after Fannett Township.[2] A post office called Fannettsburg was established in 1809. The spellung of the town's name was changed to Fannettsburgh in 1827, but was restored to Fannettsburg in 1892.[3]

Fannettsburg's ZIP code, 17221, covers 10.31 sq mi (26.7 km2), a population of 637 and 316 housing units, 252 of them occupied.[4][5] The vacant housing unit stats is misleading, however, as the data includes a former campground that has vacant mobile homes. As of 2021, there were only two vacant homes in the main part of town.
