Team history

In July 2019, the Franklin Bulls were granted provisional entry into the National Basketball League (NBL) for the 2021 season.[1] However, following the withdrawal of the Southern Huskies and Super City Rangers,[2] the Bulls expedited their process to complete a set of requirements set down by the league, and in November 2019, they were granted entry into the NBL for the 2020 season.[3]

2020 NZ NBL Season

Also known as the Sal's NBL Showdown

Their inaugural season in the NBL looked in doubt when it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[4][5] However the league returned in a reduced format based entirely in Auckland City at the Trusts Arena.[6][7][8]

The Bulls finished 5th in the 'regular' season with a 7–7 record before losing an elimination final to the Taranaki Mountainairs 95-107.[9][10][11]

In firey match with many lead changes saw one Huskies player ejected, the Bulls came out on top and once again ran the 09.[14]
