Güngören, Midyat
Güngören (Classical Syriac: Keferb, Kurdish: Keferb), also known as Keferbi is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Midyat, Mardin Province in Turkey.[2] The village is adjacent to an ancient monastery, Mor Gabriel Monastery, only 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the west.

Güngören is populated by Assyrians and by Kurds of the Dermemikan tribe.[3] The village had a population of 174 in 2022.[1]
History
The village predates the coming of Islam, with a church ("Purple Stefanos Church"), dating to 778 AD.[4] The Dermemikan Kurds settled in the village in the 1700s and came from Doğubayazıt.[5]
Geography
Güngören is surrounded by forest and is situated atop a hill. The village is located in a geographic and cultural region known as Tur Abdin, which is a large, fairly hilly plateau in Southeastern Turkey.
The nearest city is Midyat, 24.4 kilometres (15.2 mi) away. The village is 93.2 kilometres (57.9 mi) east of the provincial capital of Mardin.
The village is in a region with a continental climate.
