Government of Guillermo Lasso

The Government of Guillermo Lasso governed the Republic of Ecuador from May 24, 2021, after the victory of Guillermo Lasso in the 2021 presidential elections.[1]

The government is set to be dissolved by November 25, 2023 following the 2023 Ecuadorian general election.

History

2022 protests

In June 2022, anti-government protests broke out in Ecuador.[2]

Fall of the government

In May 2023, the National Assembly officially began a second impeachment proceeding against President Lasso. As a result on 17 May 2023, Lasso dissolved the National Assembly by invoking a constitutional measure known as muerte cruzada, triggering the 2023 general election.[3]
