Garuk, Hormozgan

Garuk (Persian: گروك, also Romanized as Garūk and Gorūk; also known as Garū, Garūq, Gerow, Girau, and Guru)[3] is a city in the Central District of Sirik County, Hormozgan province, Iran.

At the 2006 census, its population was 3,640 in 640 households, when it was a village in Sirik Rural District of the former Byaban District of Minab County.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 4,140 people in 920 households, by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Sirik County.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 5,137 people in 1,182 households, when the village of Garuk had been elevated to the status of a city.[2]
