Minab County

Minab County (Persian: شهرستان میناب) is in Hormozgan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Minab.[3]

At the 2006 census, the county's population was 254,304 in 50,478 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 235,705 people in 56,106 households, by which time Byaban District had been separated from the county to form Sirik County.[5] At the 2016 census, the county's population was 259,221 in 68,906 households.[2]

Administrative divisions

The population history and structural changes of Minab County's administrative divisions over three consecutive censuses are shown in the following table. The latest census shows four districts, 11 rural districts, and four cities.[2]

After the 2016 census, Karian Rural District was separated from the Central District in the establishment of Karian District, which was divided into two rural districts, including the newly formed Talang Rural District.[6]

Tiab Rural District was also separated from the Central District in the establishment of Tiab District and divided into two rural districts, including the new Sarbaran Rural District.[7]

In addition, three villages in Band-e Zarak District were elevated to the status of cities: Band-e Zarak,[8] Kargan[9] and Zehuki.[10]
