Inauguration of Sergio Osmeña
The inauguration of Sergio Osmeña as the fourth president of the Philippines and the second president of the Philippine Commonwealth (then as government in exile) under the United States took place on August 1, 1944 in Washington, D.C., United States, under extraordinary circumstances. The inauguration marked the commencement of Osmeña's only term (which lasted one year, 9 months and 29 days) as President, following the death of President Manuel L. Quezon earlier that day. Osmeña later delivered his inaugural speech on August 10.[1]
