Career

Swope Park Rangers

In January 2019, Mbekeli joined USL Championship club Swope Park Rangers.[2] After scoring twice against Bethlehem Steel, he was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week.[3]

Sheriff Tiraspol

On 5 July 2023, Sheriff Tiraspol announced the singing of Ngom Mbekeli from Beveren.[4]

International

Mbekeli was named to Cameroon's roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.[5] He was one of the few amateur players at the tournament, making approximately the minimum wage in his home nation of Cameroon.[6]During the competition, he would make his mark with an incredible assist for his captain Vincent Aboubakar in Cameroon's historic 1-0 victory over Brazil on Matchday 3 of the group phase.

His few minutes at the World Cup enabled him to break away from Belgian 2nd division club SK Beveren, who later bought him for 400k euros.

After the World Cup with Cameroon, he will take part in the 2022 African Nations Championship in Algeria. He scored the only goal of the game in his side's victory over Congo. But with the subsequent defeat (by the same score) to Niger, he and Cameroon were eliminated from the competition.
