Jone Amezaga

Jone Amezaga Martínez[lower-alpha 1] (born 2 January 2005) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a forward for Athletic Club.

Club career

Amezaga started her career with Pauldarrak and joined Athletic Club's academy aged 12.[3] She made her senior debut in the Liga F against Sporting Huelva in September 2022 aged 17, starting the match and opening the scoring with her first touch of the ball within the first minute of play.[4][5] She continued to feature regularly that season,[6] making 22 appearances and scoring three more goals[lower-alpha 2] including one at the club's main San Mamés stadium against Real Sociedad.[5]

International career

Amezaga made her debut for the Spain under-17 squad in September 2021 against Serbia. She was a member of the squads which finished runners-up at the 2022 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship, then won the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.[8]

She subsequently moved up to the under 19s, and won the 2023 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship.[9] Her progression at club and international levels closely mirrored her teammate and friend Sara Ortega.[6][10]
