Kristen McDonald Rivet
Kristen McDonald Rivet is an American politician who is a member of the Michigan Senate for Michigan’s 35th Senate District which includes all of Auburn, Bangor Township, Bay City, Beaver Township, Buena Vista Charter Township, Carrollton Township, Essexville, Frankenlust Township, Hampton Township, Homer Township, Ingersoll Township, Kawkawlin Township, Kochville Township, Larkin Township, Lincoln Township, Merritt Township, Midland, Midland Township, Monitor Township, Mount Haley Township, Portsmouth Township, Saginaw, Saginaw Township, Tittabawassee Township, Williams Township, Zilwaukee, and Zilwaukee Township. She was elected in November 2022 and took office on January 1, 2023.

Early life and education
McDonald Rivet was raised in Portland, Michigan, the daughter of a construction worker father and a stay-at home mother. She has two sisters, including her fraternal twin Karen McDonald. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts in education and public administration from the University of Michigan–Flint.[1]
Career
Prior to entering politics, McDonald Rivet served as chief of staff for State Superintendent Michael P. Flanagan and was vice president of the Skillman Foundation.[2] McDonald Rivet later served as a member of the Bay City Commission, representing the city's 2nd ward.[3] She was elected to the Michigan Senate in November 2022, defeating Republican state Representative Annette Glenn.[4][5]
Personal life
McDonald Rivet and her husband, Joseph Rivet, have six children.
