Leobendorf is locatet in the Weinviertel in Niederösterreich.The area of the market town covers 29.96 square kilometers. About 18.72 percent of the municipality is forested.

History:

The history of Leobendorf, which was first mentioned in a document in 1142, is closely linked to the castle and the lordship of Kreuzenstein. The parish of Leobendorf was founded around the middle of the 11th century and was the mother parish for the eastern part of the territory of the Formbachers in the Kreuzenstein-Bisamberg area. In 1260, King Ottokar handed over the right of patronage to the Teutonic Order.
