Plot
A long time ago, there was a hero who fought against the king of the Underworld, Aleph, who had conspired to disturb peace on Earth. The legendary hero was called Magical Hat. According to legend, the hero used his mysterious "Magical Psychic Powers" to defeat Aleph and sealed the Underworld under Uson Island.
A young boy named Hat comes to the island with his parents, who are researching the legends of the Underworld. To continue their research, they visit a huge hole located in the center of the island. Suddenly, an earthquake hits the island and Hat falls into the hole. There, he finds himself in the Underworld and discovers the truth; he is the descendant of Magical Hat, and has inherited his Magical Psychic Powers. However, Aleph has regained his strength to threaten the peace of the Earth once more. In order to thwart the evil king's ambitions and defeat him, Hat fights alongside his friends as a new hero.[1]
Media
The 1990 Mega Drive game Magical Hat's Turbo Flight! Adventure (まじかるハットのぶっとびターボ!大冒険, Majikaru Hatto no Buttobi Tābo! Daibōken) is based on this series. Due to the game's developer failing to secure the Magical Hat license outside Japan, it was completely redone and released in 1991 as Decap Attack. The game features different characters, story, art, music, and level design, but has the same general gameplay.
