Controversies

Similarly to most other U.S high schools, MHS has issues regarding in-school vaping, illegal drug-usage, and fights.

In the 2022-2023 school year at MHS, several fights broke out, including a fight that caused a hold-drill (a safety procedure in which students are kept inside their classrooms for protective measures) on September 27, 2022, at around 10:45 A:M CDT.[10]

On May 11, 2023, a student-formed walkout occurred at 12:00 P:M. It was over gun-control measures due to the 2023 Allen, Texas outlet mall shooting, which had occurred only 5 days prior. The protest had approximately 150 students who walked out the building, and 200 leaving class.
