Mehazabien Chowdhury

Mehazabien Chowdhury (Bengali: মেহজাবীন চৌধুরী) is a Bangladeshi actress, model and the winner of Lux Channel I Superstar 2009.[1] Mehazabien began her acting career after winning Lux Channel I Superstar, (2009)[2][3] a Bangladeshi beauty pageant.[4] Her success in the pageant opened doors for her acting career. Mehazabien rose to prominence after featuring in a TV commercial for Banglalink, a mobile phone operator, which brought her to the limelight. She made her debut in the television drama "Tumi Thako Shindhu Pare," which was broadcast on ATN Bangla. Since then, she has starred in several popular dramas such as "Boro Chele", "Chompa House", "Buker Ba Pashe", "Alo", “Lota Audio", “Chirokal Aaj”, “ Kajoler Din Ratri”. Mehazabien is widely recognized for her versatility in acting and has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances. Her notable awards include the Meril Prothom Alo Awards - 2017, 2018, 2019,[5]2021, CJFB Performance Award-2012, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2020 and 2021.[6] In 2018, she received the Babisas Award for her performance in the play Sonali Danar Chil.  Bangladesh Police Women Network (BPWN) honoured Mehazabien Chowdhury for her drama, “Alo”, where she played the character of a sergeant.[7]

Early life and education

Chowdhury was born on 19 April 1991[8] in Chittagong, Bangladesh.[9][10] Mehazabien, in addition to her acting career, is a passionate fashion enthusiast who pursued her interest by studying fashion design at the Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology.

Career

Chowdhury began her career as a model. After winning the Lux Channel I Superstar contest,[11] she started working in the media regularly. Chowdhury's first television debut was in Tumi Thako Shindhu Parey.[12] Mehazabien then started to appear in television in commercials.[13] She played a role as the heroine in romantic-comedy telefilm Ekai 100[14] and romantic tragedy Boro Chele.[15] In 2017, she was starred in the television drama Boro Chele.[16][17] In February 2022, her first web film Redrum directed by Vicky Zahed released on Chorki.[18]

Pageantry

She was crowned as Lux Channel I Superstar in 2009 where Mounita Khan Ishana finished as first runner up and Sadika Swarna finished as second runner up.[19]

Brand ambassador

Mehazabien Chowdhury has gained widespread recognition as a brand ambassador for various renowned brands. She first rose to prominence in the media industry through her participation in Lux Channel i Superstar, a popular reality show in Bangladesh. However, it was her work as a model in Lux's advertisements that helped her gain immense popularity among the Bangladeshi audience. She also served as the brand ambassador of Banglalink in 2019. In 2020, Mehazabien was chosen as a brand ambassador for Bata Bangladesh, a multinational footwear brand.[26] In 2023, Mehazabien was announced as a brand ambassador for Daraz Bangladesh, an online marketplace.[27] [28] Mehazabien Chowdhury now brand ambassador of Hair oil brand Nihar Naturals.[29][30]

Judge

In 2016, Mehazabien Chowdhury served as a guest judge on the dance reality show called “Mangoli-Channeli Shera Nachiye”,[31] which was broadcast on Channel i on April 05, 2016. In 2022, she appeared as a guest judge for a singing reality show "Square Surer Shera" which was broadcast on Maasranga Television.[32]
