Critical response

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 88% of 26 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 7/10. The website's consensus reads: "A searingly powerful union of filmmaker and cast, Memory finds writer/director Michel Franco exploring complex, mature themes brought brilliantly to life by stars Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard."[7] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 73 out of 100, based on 9 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.[8]
