Mitch Griffis

Mitch Griffis (born September 9, 2001) is an American football quarterback who plays for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Early life and high school

Griffis was born in Ashburn, Virginia and attended Broad Run High School. In Griffis senior season in high school he would complete 192 of his 278 pass attempts for 2,647 passing yards and 29 touchdowns to three interceptions, Griffis also rushed for 411 yards.[1] Coming out of high school Griffis was rated a three-star recruit and the number 40 quarterback in the class. Griffis would decide to commit to play college football at the University of Wake Forest over other schools such as Louisville, Maryland North Carolina, and West Virginia.[2][3]

College career

In week one of the 2020 season, Griffis threw his first career touchdown pass to Taylor Morin against Clemson.[4] Griffis finished the covid shortend 2020 season going four for thirteen on passing attempts for 56 yards and a touchdown.[5] In the 2021 season, Griffis only attempted two passes, which were both incomplete.[6] Griffis got his first start in week one of the 2022 season as starting quarterback Sam Hartman was out with an injury. In Griffis first start he completed 21 of his 29 pass attempts for 288 yards and three touchdowns, as he helped Wake Forest start their season off with a win beating VMI 44-10.[7] Griffis finnished the 2022 season completing 29 out of his 41 pass attempts for 348 yards and five touchdowns with an interception, while also rushing for 14 yards.[8] Griffis oppened the 2023 season, as Wake Forest's starting quarterback.[9][10] In week zero of the 2023 season, Griffis would complete 19 of his 30 pass attempts for 329 yards and three touchdowns with an interception, as he helped the Demon Deacons start their season off with a win beating Elon.[11] In the following week Griffis would go 17 for 26 on passing attempts for 196 yards and two touchdowns, as he would helped Wake Forest beat Vanderbilt.[12]
