Rural Municipality of Moose Jaw No. 161

The Rural Municipality of Moose Jaw No. 161 (2016 population: 1,163) is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within Census Division No. 7 and SARM Division No. 2. It is located in the south-central portion of the province, surrounding the city of Moose Jaw.

In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the RM of Moose Jaw No. 161 had a population of 1,207 living in 496 of its 557 total private dwellings, a change of 5.6% from its 2016 population of 1,143. With a land area of 777.62 km2 (300.24 sq mi), it had a population density of 1.6/km2 (4.0/sq mi) in 2021.[7]

In the 2016 Census of Population, the RM of Moose Jaw No. 161 recorded a population of 1,163 living in 459 of its 524 total private dwellings, a 1.4% increase from its 2011 population of 1,147. With a land area of 793.73 km2 (306.46 sq mi), it had a population density of 1.5/km2 (3.8/sq mi) in 2016.[4]

Government

The RM of Moose Jaw No. 161 is governed by an elected municipal council and an appointed administrator that meets on the second Tuesday of every month.[3] The reeve of the RM is Ron Brumwell while its administrator is Mike Wirges.[3] The RM's office is located in Moose Jaw.[3]
