Narayanganj Commuter

The Narayanganj Commuter (Bengali: নারায়ণগঞ্জ কমিউটার) is a commuter train belonging to Bangladesh RailwayEast Zone that runs between Kamalapur and Narayanganj railway station in Dhaka Division, Bangladesh.

History

Bangladesh Railway wanted to start a commuter train service so that the working people of Narayanganj can travel to and from Dhaka in less time. As planned, prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Narayanganj Commuter at Kamalapur railway station on 24 April 2023.[1][2] The train service was suspended on 4 December 2022 for work on the Dhaka–Jessore line and resumed on 1 August 2023 after work on the Dhaka section.[3]

Service

The train had two CRRC Tangshan DEMU rakes. It consisted of three coaches.[2] Now it have one BR rake.[4]

Incident

On September 24, 2020, while traveling from Kamalapur to Narayanganj, the train stopped due to derailment of four wheels. As a result, the schedule of Narayanganj Commuter had to be adjusted that day.[5]
