Newtownards was a constituency represented in the Irish House of Commons until 1800.

The town was incorporated on 1 April 1613 and a privilege of that incorporation was to send two burgers to serve as members of Parliament.[1] Members of Parliament from 1613 to 1800 inclusive:[2]

- This Clotworthy Upton was the uncle of Clotworthy Upton, 1st Baron Templetown (1721–1785). Upton's estate was inherited by his brother Lieutenant Colonel John Upton (1671-1740); John's youngest son, also Clotworthy Upton, later succeeded to the estate and was created Baron Templetown in 1776
