The last election was a snap election, held in 2023. This resulted in a coalition government between the left-wing populist and social conservative Direction – Social Democracy (Smer-SD), the social democratic Voice – Social Democracy (Hlas-SD), and the right-wing populist Slovak National Party (SNS), with Smer-SD leader Robert Fico becoming Prime Minister.
