History

Nexus Airlines launched on 17 May 2023 announcing plans to commence regular public transport (RPT) services on 10 July 2023[6] with their newly acquired fleet of five de Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q400 turboprop aircraft leased from Nordic Aviation Capital.[7][8]

In a press release from the Minister for Transport, Rita Saffioti, the Western Australian Government confirmed a $4.05 million investment over four years to 2027 to support the airline to expand WA's Inter-Regional Flight Network (IRFN).[6]

The first flight on the Geraldton-Karratha-Port Hedland-Broome route, part of the IRFN, took off on 10 July. The airline has exclusive rights to operate the route until June 2027.[3]

Flights on the Broome-Kununurra-Darwin route commenced on 28 July, in competition with incumbent operator Airnorth. Whilst four flights a week are operated on the route, there are plans to eventually increase this to daily flights in the future.[9]

Destinations

Nexus Airlines announced they will operate on the existing Geraldton-Perth route which is also serviced by QantasLink and will operate a brand new Geraldton-Karratha route, and also fly to Port Hedland, Broome, Kununurra and Darwin.

Flights to and from Perth operate out of Perth Airport's regional Terminal 2.[10]
