History

Nishi-Obihiro Station opened on 8 September 1907 as Fushiko Station (止若駅).[1] It was renamed to its current name, Nishi-Obihiro Station, in November 1954.[2]

With the privatization of the Japan National Railway (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the aegis of the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido).[1]
