Northern Regional College is the main provider of further education across four of the 11 council areas in Northern Ireland, covering a population of over 560,000. We offer a comprehensive range of qualifications for school leavers, full and part-time courses for adults, apprenticeships, professional qualifications and university accredited courses as well as providing a range of business services to support the business community.
Campuses
We are one College with six campuses - Ballymena (Trostan Avenue and Farm Lodge campuses), Ballymoney, Coleraine, Magherafelt and Newtownabbey and have now embarked on an exciting £84 million investment to redevelop our Coleraine and Ballymena campus where we will move from six to four campuses by 2025.[1]
Courses, students and curriculum departments
The College has courses across 3 academic departments - Business & Service Industries, Health, Social Care and Access, and Advanced Technologies catering for over 8,000 students. Many of our lecturers continue to work as industry professionals and offer extensive knowledge and experience of their specialist area helping to equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to prepare them for the world of work. The College has extensive well-equipped workshops and classrooms with the latest equipment and facilities to meet industry standards.
History
The College was set up following a review of further education in Northern Ireland. Northern Regional College was formed on 1 August 2017, merging the three Further and Higher Education institutions:
- Causeway Institute
- East Antrim Institute
- North East Institute.
