Petros Iakovidis

Petros Iakovidis (Greek: Πέτρος Ιακωβίδης, born 12 September 1988) is a Greek singer, composer and lyricist. Petros Iakovidis has been involved in music since his early student years. He has musical studies in musical instruments such as guitar, bouzouki, percussion and piano. Since 2015, he has been steadily on the rise in the Greek discography, not only as a performer of his own songs, but also as a composer and lyricist of great hits performed by artists such as Konstantinos Argyros, Natassa Theodoridou and many others. His compositional and performing activity ranks him among the top and most influential artists of his generation.[1]

Biography

Early years

Petros Iakovidis spent his childhood in Kavala. He has been working as a singer since he was 15 years old. His grandfather is a singer and a good friend of Stelios Kazantzidis, his sister Morfoula Iakovidou is also a singer and his father Stavros Iakovidis is a former footballer, who played for big teams such as Doxa — Drama and Scoda — Xanthi.[2]

Music career

In March 2015, Iakovidis recorded his first single "O Erotas Mou Gine" ("Become My Love"), he has a contract with the music label Minos EMI.[3]

In 2016 he realized the songs "Vale" ("Pour"), "Agkalia" ("Hug") and "Koritsaki Mou" ("My Little Girl"), songs become hits and occupy leading positions in the Greek music charts.

In Juny 2017, he presented his first studio album titled Apotipomata ("Fingerprints").[4] A few months later, the album was certified gold by sales.[5]

At the end of 2018, Petros Iakovidis released his second studio album entitled "Sou Ta 'Dosa Ola" ("I Gave You Everything"). The album contains 10 songs, in which he signs the music entirely while the lyrics belong to himself, Olga Vlachopoulou and Vicky Gerothodorou. The following songs stand out as hits "Gela Mou" ("Laugh For Me"), "Vradia Aximerota" ("Nights Without Dawn"), "Min Tolmiseis" ("Don't You Dare"), "Sou Ta 'Dosa Ola" and "Paraferesai" ("You Are Behaving Badly").[6]

On 2 July 2019 was released the song "Fovamai" ("I'm Scared"), which becomes a total hit.[7]

The following year, was realized the songs "Koimisou Apopse Edo" ("Sleep Here Tonight"), "S'Agapao Sou Fonaxa" ("I Shouted To You "I Love You"") and "Mi Thimoneis" ("Don't Get Mad").

In 2021, Petros Iakovidis won the award "Best Video–Elliniko Horeftiko" with the song "S'Agapao Sou Fonaxa" at the MAD Video Music Awards 2021.[8] The same year the songs were released "Tatouaz" ("Tattoo"), "Mou 'leipses Poli" ("I've Missed You So Much") and "Asto" ("Let It Go"). With song "Mou 'leipses Poli", he won the award "Best Laiko Song" at the MAD Video Music Awards 2022.[9]

In the summer of 2022, is released the third studio album of Petros Iakovidis entitled "Odos Tsimiski".[10] In December 2022 he was awarded by the mayor of Thessaloniki with a special honorary plaque for “Odos Tsimiski” as a sign of recognition and thanks, for his valuable contribution to the even greater prominence of one of the most characteristic streets of the city. His first song released by Panik Records was "Na Na Na (Tragoudo Gia Sena)" ("I'm Singing For You") which met a huge success, followed by two other hit singles "Ax Kardoula Mou" ("Oh My Little Heart") and "Sikose To Tilefono" ("Pick Up The Phone"). In 2022 he was the leader of the remarkable "Fantasia Live" night show alongside Josephine and in 2023, for the second year in the row he leads again prestigiously at "Fantasia Live" alongside Lena Zevgara.[11]

In 2023 he released his new album "Kalispera" ("Good Evening") from Panik Records, which became an immediate success.[12]
