- 1867 – The Spring Hill and Fortitude Valley Rifle Corps formed in Queensland, today they are known as the 9th Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment.
- 1953 – Korean War: the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment moved out of the line on Hill 355 in Korea having been relieved by the Durham Light Infantry.
