Premnagar, Jammu and Kashmir

Premnagar (also written as Prem Nagar) is a village located in the Thathri subdistrict of the Doda District in the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated on Batote-Kishtwar National Highway and falls within the Parnot panchayat.

Demographics

According to the 2011 Census, the population of the Parnot panchayat, which includes Premnagar, is 783.[1]

Infrastructure

A wooden foot bridge over the Chenab river in Premnagar was originally constructed in 1966.[2] The bridge has suffered damage from various earthquakes, with many of its wooden planks supporting the structure decaying. The bridge is vital and only nearest connectivity for several nearby villages, including Dhara, Jatheli, Dongroo, Gundna, Malwana, Parnote, Mohalla, Gulwana, and others, to the National Highway.[3]

A police post is located in Prem Nagar under the jurisdiction of Bhaderwah.[4]

Events

In 2021, the District administration of Doda organized the Union Territory level rafting championship on the Chenab River in the Shibnote area of Premnagar, Thathri sub division.[5][6] The sand mines located in this area of Premnagar[7] is used as beech for festival.[6]
