Khaf, Iran

Khaf (Persian: خواف; also Romanized as Khvāf and Khāf; also known as Qaşabeh-ye Rūd, Rūd, Rūi Khāf, and Rūy)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, the Central District of Khaf County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran, and also serves as capital of the county. It is situated on the Mashhad-Herat railway, currently under construction.

At the 2006 census, its population was 21,160 in 4,924 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 28,444 people in 7,094 households.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 33,189 people in 8,999 households.[2]
