Redmi 12

The Redmi 12 and Redmi 12 5G are Android-based smartphones as part of the Redmi series, a sub-brand of Xiaomi Inc. 4G model was announced on June 15, 2023[4][5][6][7] and 5G model was announced on August 1, 2023.

Not to be confused with Xiaomi 12 or Redmi 12C.

In China, Redmi 12 5G is also sold as Redmi Note 12R. Later, Redmi 12 5G was released by POCO as POCO M6 Pro with different back designs and colors.

Design

The front and back are made of Gorilla Glass. The frame is made of plastic.

On the bottom side there are USB-C port, speaker, and microphone. On the top side there are 3.5mm audio jack and IR blaster. On the left side there is a hybrid Dual SIM tray (SIM1 + SIM 2 or SIM1 + microSD). On the right side are a volume rocker and a power button with a mounted fingerprint scanner.

Redmi 12 is available in 3 colors: Midnight Black, Sky Blue and Polar Silver.

Chipset

Redmi 12 uses the same octa-core MediaTek Helio G88 CPU as Redmi 10 with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.

On the other hand, Redmi 12 5G, Redmi Note 12R, and POCO M6 Pro are the first smartphones that use Qulcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 with 5G support and Adreno 613 GPU.[8]

Camera

Redmi 12 has triple rear camera with 50 MP, f/1.8 wide camera + 8 MP, f/2.2 ultrawide camera + 2 MP, f/2.4 macro camera, and front camera 8 MP, f/2.1.

Redmi 12 5G, Note 12R and POCO M6 Pro have dual rear camera with 50 MP, f/1.8 wide camera + 2 MP, f/2.4 depth camera. Also, the Chinese version of Redmi 12 5G and Redmi Note 12R have 5 MP, f/2.2 front camera while the Indian version of Redmi 12 5G and POCO M6 Pro have 8 MP, f/2.0 front camera.

The rear and front cameras of all models can record video in 1080p@30fps.

Display

Smartphones have a 6.79 in (172 mm) IPS LCD display with FHD+ (2460x1080) resolution (396 ppi), 90 Hz refresh rate and punch hole in upper center.

Battery

Smartphones have a non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support.

Memory

Redmi 12, 12 5G, and Note 12R sell with 4/128, 6/128, 8/128, and 8/256 GB.

POCO M6 Pro sells with 4/64, 4/128 and 6/128 GB.[9]

Redmi 12 has eMMC 5.1 storage type and other models have UFS 2.2 storage type. Also, all models have LPDDR4X RAM type and microSD support to 1 TB.

Software

The smartphone was released with MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
