Shaw is a locality in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2021 census, Shaw had a population of 760 people.[3]

Geography

Shaw Road runs through from south to north, and North Townsville Road runs along the northern boundary.[4]

History

Shaw is situated in the traditional Wulgurukaba Aboriginal country.[5] The district was named on 27 July 1991.[2]

St Benedict's Catholic School opened with 163 students in January 2018.[6]

In the 2016 census, Shaw had a population of 550 people.[7]

In the 2021 census, Shaw had a population of 760 people.[3]

Education

St Benedict's Catholic School is a Catholic primary (Prep-6) school at 890 Dalrymple Road (19.2868°S 146.7325°E / -19.2868; 146.7325 (St Benedict's Catholic School)).[8][9]

There are no government schools in Shaw. The nearest government primary schools are Bohlevale State School in neighbouring Deeragun to the north-west and The Willows State School in neighbouring Kirwan to the south-west. The nearest government secondary schools are Northern Beaches State High School in Deeragun and Kirwan State High School in Kirwan.[10]
