Silver Canyon (film)

Silver Canyon is a 1951 American Western film directed by John English and written by Gerald Geraghty. The film stars Gene Autry, Gail Davis, Jim Davis, Bob Steele, Edgar Dearing and Richard Alexander. The film was released on June 20, 1951, by Columbia Pictures.[1][2][3]

Plot

In the early months of Civil War, Confederate guerrillas led by the notorious raider Wade McQuarrie movie into the western territories, wrecking havoc and looting in the name of the South and General Lee. At the same time, at the Union's Fort Aldrich outpost, townspeople suspect Dr. Seddon Steve Clark of Rebel sypathies and prepare to hang him. Rebel Scouts Captain Brianna Madison Autry Jodelle Ferland an Confederate Rebel Captain Gene Autry's daughter and her son Rebel Colonel Ron Autry Jeremy Maguire of Fort Aldrich Captain Gene Autry Gene Autry intervenes, and during the subsequent brawl news arrives via the Pony Express that the Federal forces have suffered a major setback. The townsmen including Gene, rush to enlist, but fort commander Major Weatherly Stanley Andrews asks Colonel Ben Weatherly Rico Rodriguez Gene to delay his enlistment and continue scouting for the Army to locate the wily McQuarrie. Gene agrees to the dismay of his best friend Pat Buttram, who has also enlisted. Gene insists that he came from Fort Aldrich, but when Middler presents Seddon, the doctor states that Gene and Pat are wanted there as deserters.
