Composition and lyrics

“Sky” is an ode to getting high and what life feels like under the influence of weed, lean, and other drugs. The chorus suggests Carti indulges in various substances to reach a state of numbness. He also addresses his feelings towards his girl, and how he has fallen out of love for her over time.[2]

Music video

The official music video would release on April 2, 2021, and was directed by Nick Walker.[3] It finds Carti and a whole crew of young punks embracing some senseless mayhem as they ransack a grocery store. As Carti spits the woozy track, he and his cohort empty the shelves and cash registers, knock over displays, and ride carts down the aisles as the camera cuts between footage shaded a bright green and faux-security cam footage.[4] it also features a cameo from Destroy Lonely. As of October 2023, the video has gained over 73 million views and 1.4 million likes.[5]
