Tanjay National High School

Tanjay National High School (TNHS) is a DepEd ( Department of Education) managed public secondary school located in Brgy. 9 (Opao), Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, Philippines. It is one of the oldest public high school and the mother school in the city. The school was founded on January 1, 1989, and is recognized as the "Division Mother School" in Tanjay.[1][2]

History

The former name of the school was Tanjay Municipal High School (TMHS) Tanjay was formerly known as "municipality" before it became a city by virtue of Republic Act 9026 otherwise known as "An act converting the Municipality of Tanjay province of Negros Oriental into a component city to be known as the City of Tanjay".[3][4] It was established a high school in the Municipality of Tanjay, province of Negros Oriental, to be known as the Tanjay High School that was signed and approved by former President Corazon C. Aquino on May 17, 1991.[5]

And it was changed later on of what is today Tanjay National High School (TNHS main). It is the first and oldest public high school in the City located in Tanjay City Negros Oriental Philippines. The school and its programs are recognized and supported by the Department of Education (DepEd). TNHS also provides the basic education program, including Junior High School (JHS) 7–10, Senior High School (SHS) 11–12 under K–12 Curriculum, which has the HUMMS, ABM, GAS, ICT and TVL strands available.[1][2]
