History

Following various meetings between Toyota Argentina and the Asociación Corredores de Turismo Carretera starting as far back as 2018, the Toyota Camry was confirmed as an entrant into Turismo Carretera on 13 October 2021.[2] The XV70 model type was chosen to represent the brand, with alterations made to the front and rear doors as well as the B-pillar to fit series regulations. In addition, the vehicle was fitted with the AMC XJ engine used in the Dodge Cherokee and Torino Cherokee.[3]

The car made its debut with the factory team in the 2022 season.[4] Matías Rossi scored the models' first victory in a factory team 1–2 at the 2023 Desafío de las Estrellas.[5] A third car has since been built by Maquin Parts Racing for Esteban Gini.[6]
