Viliam Karas

Viliam Karas (born 2 April 1976) is a Slovak lawyer and politician. He served as the Minister of Justice of Slovakia from September 2022 to May 2023.

Biography

Karas was born in Prešov on 2 April 1976.[1] He studied law at the Comenius University, graduating in 1999.[2] In 2002 he was awarded a PhD. in law at the University of Trnava.[3] He is a partner at the law firm Maple & Fish. On 1 January 2021 he was appointed the chair of the Slovak Bar Association, a post he held until September 2022 when he became a government minister.[4]

On 30 August 2023, KDH announced that Karas had joined the party to serve as an interior affair and justice expert.[5]

Personal life

Karas is married and has four children.[6]
