Background and early life
Dao is from Los Angeles, California and of Vietnamese and Italian descent.[2] During his Los Angeles high school graduation, Dao was honored as the valedictorian of his graduating class. He was at first a progressive, however he had a shift towards conservatism after watching Tucker Carlson on Fox News while working on a school project.[2]
Career
Vince Dao is a conservative social media influencer, and a political commentator, and was founding member and chief spokesperson of the American Populist Union (Now called American Virtue), known for promoting social conservatism, populist economic views, the right-wing ideology.[4] Dao began by gaining a following on platforms like Instagram and Youtube,[2] where he defends christian views on marriage, questions foreign interventions by the United States, and advocates for a more active role of christianity in the American policy-making process.[5][6] His means of passing his messages across to his audience are by specializing in producing online media content, interviews, public speaking, podcasts, short videos and organizing gatherings, sharing the stage with republican political figures Don Huffines, Anthony Sabatini, Michael Knowles, etc.[3] He has been a guest speaker at the Emory University, Prager force events, Tom Shattuck's Burn Barrel, The Daily Wire, Turning Point USA, Vice News, BlazeTV, Newsmax, OAN, etc.[7][8][4][9][10] Additionally, he serves as the TV host on the Freedom Broadcasting Network's program titled "National Conservative," on The Roku Channel,[11] and is a member of Prager Force, a non profit organization of over 10,000 American students promoting Dennis Prager's political views, alongside with being the Editor-in-chief of American Virtue.[3] He was also featured on Vice News.[9]
Dao's former organization, the American Populist Union have been called a far-right movement. Dao spoke at the APU's first event, the "American Populist Summit," alongside fellow contributors political commentator John Doyle, YouTuber Nathaniel Abbott, Election YouTuber Red Eagle Politics, TikTok influencer Kai Schwemmer. Dao, in his speech, showed a video of protesters toppling a Confederate monument with ‘1619’ emblazoned on its side, stating that “our civilization teeters on its very foundations, and the conservative movement does not have time for unserious people or unserious ideas.”[12] The APU was supposed to host Paul Gosar in a gathering in Tempe, Arizona,[13][14] which Gasol had initially agreed to make an appearance as a guest, but canceled attending after the event was made public and termed a "controversial conservative event".[15][16] The event was to be held on Hitler’s birthday.[17][18] The APU have endorsed New Jersey politician, Mike Crispi in the past.[19] His organization, the American Populist Union, have been accused of attempting to sabotage the Turning Point USA, alongside the Groypers.[20] He disagreed with academic administrator Ben Sasse, terming him as "not being conservative enough".[21]

Dao presently attends the University of Florida as an undergraduate student.
