Weston Wilson

Weston Woodrow Wilson (born September 11, 1994) is an American professional baseball outfielder and infielder for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2023.

Career

Wilson attended Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina, and Clemson University, where he played college baseball for the Clemson Tigers.[1]

Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers selected Wilson in the 17th round, with the 501st overall selection, of the 2016 MLB draft.[2][3] In 2021, when he was playing for the Nashville Sounds, he developed a blood clot in his right shoulder. After having surgery, he played in the Arizona Fall League that year.[4] He returned to Nashville in 2022. He became a free agent after the season.

Philadelphia Phillies

On January 11, 2023, Wilson signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies organization.[5] In 100 games for the Triple–A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, he hit .260/.361/.524 with 25 home runs, 69 RBI, and 23 stolen bases. On August 6, 2023, Wilson was selected to the 40-man roster and promoted to the major leagues for the first time.[6] He made his first career start on August 9, 2023, hitting a home run during his first career at bat.[7][8]
