The film was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, where it premiered on 8 September 2023.
Premise
Spanning 45 years, the film focuses on Anieli, a husband and father in a small town in Poland, who starts to experience gender dysphoria.[2][3] [4]

Production
The film was produced by No-Mad Films, a collaboration of Madants and Nowhere, and Plio, in co-production with Sweden's Film i Väst and Common Ground Pictures.[6]
In discussing the film, the directors wrote, "Kobieta z... is a really important film for us, the result of many years of work, countless meetings with transgender people - people of all ages who have lived in Poland for decades." They added, "We hope that our film will help others understand what it means to be transgender, while giving courage to hundreds of young people who identify as trans but are afraid to share it with others. Above all, we hope that it will increase support for changes in the law that will guarantee life without danger."[2]
Release
Woman Of... was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival,[7] where it had its world premiere on 8 September 2023.[1] It was also invited at the 28th Busan International Film Festival in 'World Cinema' section and was screened on 6 October 2023.[8]
World sales are handled by Memento International.[6]

Critical response
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 100% based on 6 reviews, with an average rating of 7.4/10.[9]
