YK Pao School (Chinese: 上海民办包玉刚实验学校) is a bilingual (Chinese/English) school located in Shanghai, China. The school was founded in memory of Sir Yue-Kong Pao.

Overview

YKPS is a Chinese international school that accepts both local and foreign students. The Shanghai Curriculum is integrated with international curriculums at the school, and the Secondary Division provides boarding education modelled after British and American institutions.

History

YKPS was founded by Professor Anna Sohmen Pao,[3] who is the eldest daughter of Sir YK Pao, along with Madam Tan Fuyun and Mr. Philip Sohmen.

YKPS was established in 2007, first on the site of Shanghai No. 3 Girl's High School before finally creating its own Primary Division facility on West Wuding Road.

In 2011, the Secondary Division facility in Songjiang opened, heralding the start of residential education at YKPS. Currently, the school has over 1000 Chinese and foreign students, as well as a team of international and Chinese instructors and staff.

Academics

YK Pao school is a bilingual school that enroll both Chinese and foreign students. It offers boarding, but accepts day students too.

For primary and middle school's students, YK Pao offers 'Shanghai Plus' courses, giving students an approach to Shanghai curriculum.[4][5]

For high school students, YK Pao offers Shanghai Plus courses (Y9), IGCSE (Y10), and IB Diploma (Y11–Y12).[6]

Achievements

Huren Education ranked YKPS 1st in the top international schools in China.[7]

Kinglead Group ranked YKPS 38th in the Chinese international school for its competitiveness of American admission, and 29th of the Britain admission.[8]
