Miriam Nesbitt

Miriam Nesbitt (14 de septiembre de 1873 – 11 de agosto de 1954) fue una actriz teatral y cinematográfica de estadounidense, activa en la época del cine mudo.

Biografía

Nacida en Chicago, Illinois, su verdadero nombre era Miriam Anne Skancke (o Schancke, Shanke). Hija de Lorentz Georg Skancke y de Alice Cornelia Skancke, fue educada en el Notre Dame College, en Indianápolis, y en el Mary Sharp College, en Winston, Tennessee.[1] Ella había estudiado en la Escuela Dramática Stanhope-Wheatcroft antes de conseguir un papel en la obra de Daniel Frohman The Tree of Knowledge, en la que utilizó el nombre artístico de Miriam Nesbitt.[2] Nesbitt continuó actuando en diferentes obras representadas en el circuito de Broadway a lo largo de la primera década del siglo XX.[3] Entre sus diversas interpretaciones, figura la que hizo en 1904 de Tiger Lily en Peter Pan y Wendy.

También fue actriz cinematográfica, actuando en más de 120 cintas mudas, la primera de ellas en 1908, Saved by Love. Trabajó en muchas de ellas con el actor Marc McDermott, por ejemplo Aida (1911), The Declaration of Independence (1911), The Three Musketeers: Part 1 y Part 2 (1911), el serial de 1913 Who Will Marry Mary?, y otro serial, The Man Who Disappeared (1914). Ambos actores contrajeron matrimonio el 20 de abril de 1916. Nesbitt se retiró en 1917. En su última película, A Builder of Castles, también actuaba su marido.

Miriam Nesbitt falleció en 1954 en Hollywood, California, a los 80 años de edad.
