Biographie
Tom Ricketts dirige le tout premier film d'Hollywood en 1909 Justified.
Il commence dans les honky tonk londoniens, il devient un des acteurs shakespeariens les plus en vue de son époque.
Il a réalisé plus d'une centaine de films muets entre 1909 et 1919, mais en 1919 il se tourne vers une carrière d'acteur et joue dans plus de 200 films jusqu'à sa mort. Il a joué en particulier dans le Fils de Frankenstein, un succès de la fin des années 1930, peu avant sa mort.
Il meurt de pneumonie le .
