- Type locality: Southwest side of Split Solitary Island (30°14’S; 153°11’E), New South Wales, Australia.
- Holotype: R.L. Millar, A.J.K. Millar & P.G. Richards; 31 August 1990; 17m depth, epiphytic on Pachymenia prostrata J.Agardh. NSW A009860. (Holotype consists of male, female and tetrasporangial specimens on a fragment of the basiphyte, as individual plants pressed separately and as prepared microscopic whole-mount slides). Isotypes: AD, BM, DUKE, GALW, MEL, MELU, MICH, PC, US, WELT. Additional isotypes: NSW A009856-9859, NSW A009861-9871
