Name

Cetorhinus piersoni Welton, 2015

  • Holotype: LACM 155792, complete adult tooth.

Type locality: LACM locality 7886, in sea cliff exposures north of Yaquina Head, approximately 1000 m north of Coal Creek, Lincoln County, Oregon.

Etymology: in honor of Mr. Guy E. Pierson, who collected many of the Astoria Formation teeth of Cetorhinus piersoni between 1981 and 1986.
