Holotype: BPBM 32205. Paratypes: BPBM 34128 (1); CAS 214523 [ex BPBM 36688] (1, c&s).
Type locality: Indonesia, Flores, Maumere Bay, off Sao Wisata Resort, 8°37'49.15"S, 122°18'45.75"E, depth 30-32 meters.
Etymology: Named pelonates from the Greek pelos (= mud), and nates (= dweller), treated as a noun in apposition.
