Note: The dismemberment of Sechium and re-circumscription of Sicyos has resulted in the recent resurrection of this genus. There is also evidence that it is not as close to Sechium as once thought (Schaefer & Renner, 2011 and Sebastian (et al.), 2012). However, this circumscription has yet to be universally accepted (Govaerts et al., 2019 and Tropicos, 2014).
